Let’s Write a Love Poem

Let’s write love poems.
Together — like we mean it.

Why don’t you go first?

She smiled and waited.
He choked.
Was she serious?
One look said she was.

I know it will stink,
Watching for her reaction.
I don’t do poems.

But I do, she said.
I’ll do words and you’ll do pause.
Let’s do one right now.

Night shifted to day.
Poems completed, they smiled.
Let’s keep on writing.
