There’s only today?
Write story. Play with puppy.
Live, laugh, talk, and read.
If there’s just this day —
And that’s all there ever is —
Better get living.
It doesn’t have to be anything huge, earth shattering, and monumental.
It also doesn’t have to be anything saccharine, meaningful and morose, tinged with powerful themes and important messages.
Because it’s your day.
If you ache for huge magnificent impressive or yearn for meaningful, morose, and important, go for it.
I’m going to play with the dog, raise my face to the sun. And play some more.
How about you?
What would you do if it were your single last day on earth? Are there conversations and moments you would share, revelations you’d unwrap, last words of wisdom?
What are you waiting for?
All we ever have for sure is this now — and sometimes not even that. There are those speeding buses yearning for accident, those meteors hurtling toward earth, nefarious mean guys with their fingers on the warheads….Don’t even get me started on the zombies….
Thinking further on my last day? I’d get up early to see the sun rise one last time. Scones might be baked and too many consumed with some very loud dance party music because the dog likes it, and definitely some reading and writing — famous last words of a profoundly unfamous person…..
What legacy do you wish to leave? Is what you’re doing today going to contribute to it?
